Frequently Asked Questions

What is Permanent Makeup/Micro-Pigmentation?
Micro pigmentation is the implant of colour pigments into the superficial layer of skin either to enhance natural features or for corrective work. It is the same procedure as tattooing.

Why will my colour fade if they are permanent cosmetics?
All of the inks used in this procedure are designed for this treatment only and are not used for general tattooing. The inks are hypo-allergenic and the approved within governing bodies. A patch test will be provided. The effects will last for between one and three years but you may require a re-touch up annually or possibly sooner depending on skin type/ activity and hormonal changes. The colour fades but the particles are still present in the skin.

How many treatments will I need?
A full consultation is carried out before booking your appointment so that such issues can be discussed individually. You will more than likely need what is referred to as a touch-up or colour boost appointment following your initial treatment; this is usually approximately 6 to 8 weeks after your first visit.

What is included in my treatment?
• Full confidential consultation
• Medical assessment and consent forms
• Before and after pictures and testimonials
• Initial treatment and up to 2 follow up touch-ups if required
• Pre and aftercare advice

Where will my treatments take place?
I perform treatments at salons and clinics throughout the UK. Rest assured that all locations provide a clean, hygienic, private room where the treatment can be carried out safely and confidentially.

Is the procedure painful?
Topical anaesthetic is applied to reduce any discomfort. You may experience a slight tingling or scratching sensation. Once the treatment is underway, more anaesthetic is applied and you should feel very little discomfort.

What will I see after my treatment?
You may experience any of the following:
• Slight swelling
• Redness
• Numbness for up to two hours
• The colour will appear much darker for up to 5 days
• Lines may appear thicker until the healing process has taken place.

What will happen after the First Five Days Healing Period?
You may experience loss of colour (pigment) for up to two weeks after the initial healing has taken place.

Why does this happen?
This is due to your skin cells healing over the area where the pigment has been placed. After around three to four weeks, the cells will settle and the colour returns.

When do I come back for my Follow-up Treatment?
You will need to wait at least 28 days after the initial procedure before any further treatment can be undertaken, this is so that I can see exactly what pigment is present and to ensure that your cells have completely healed and that no scarring is likely.

Which areas can be treated?
Lip liner & lip blush. This can be used to define your own lipline or alternatively we can create a better shape or fuller lips. A natural enhancement or more dramatic colour can be used to suit your individual requirements.

Eyelash Enhancer. This is where the pigment is placed between the eyelashes to promote the appearance of thicker/ more lashes. Eyeliner. Pigment is applied along the top of the lashes to create a more made up look.

Eyebrows. Designed as either full eyebrows where there are no hairs present or to fill out sparse areas where the hair is fine or fair.

Beauty Spots. For fun or fashion. Can either be created or existing beauty spots can be enhanced.

How long will my treatment take?
This is dependant on how well the anaesthetic works, I always ensure that you feel as little discomfort as possible, therefore, I usually allow up to two hours for your first treatment. This does not, however, mean that you are undergoing pigmentation the whole time.
